Food has always been decent here but in the last 2 years with the new owners this has now become our favourite chippy - puddings and chips MELT in the mouth, together with it being great value and the owners being so welcoming and friendly, absolute 5 stars!

Very big portion and the fish is very, very tender and juicy. The only thing is you need to pay for the ketchup, 30p a pack, which is fair.

Cooked to order. Very pleasant staff. Good food

Helen street chippy is a fantastic chip shop in peel green. Located on the corner on Helen street. Parking is street parking only but I've never had an issue finding a place. The staff are nice. There's a cold drinks fridge at an average price. The chips are lovely. Two types of curry sauce. Always hot and tasty food. Would recommend and I'm a regular customer here

At 6.30pm on a Tuesday there was no queue. Bright, clean premises. Prompt service from friendly server. Asked if I wanted salt & vinegar. Had Steak Pudding, Chips and Peas. (First chippy I've been to in 3 months of living in the Manchester area that's had Steak Pudding on the menu). Everything was perfectly cooked, and the best traditional chips I've had in a long time. If you're in the area it's well worth trying, and excellent value.

5 stars, for a chippy. YES cos im grading against the competition which, lets face it, is cr@p. Helen street chippy is a small, family run chippy of the old english style, on the junction of 2 rows of terraced houses. Staff (the family) are friendly n helpful, offering my partner extra paper to use as a place mat when they realised we were going to eat our fish n chips in the car. She's on a diet n the guy cooked her a smaller, lightly battered, fish specially for her. Both fish and chips are cooked on demand, thus truly fresh. The chips are a solid 8 out of 10, maybe even a 9. The fish was incredibly tender, up there with the best (which for those who don't know is served at Tony's Stadium Chippy, opposite the etihad stadium.) There's none of the grease that accompanies so many meals from take-away food places, or the anti social idiots that tend to gather in such places. Parking is hit n miss, but due to being a residential area you should be able to find a place to park up n eat your food in car. Given the lack of real 'english' chip shops .. by which i refer to the menu n the care to quality and service n nothing else, Im lucky that the Helen street chippy is close enough to where i live that its not a chore to get to, unlike the etihad. But, would i travel there for my chips if i lived beside the Etihad?,, YES!

This chippy is one of the best I've eaten at. The fish is always crisp and fresh and the chips are just as they should be. Large portions for a fair price. The owners/staff are super pleasant, always with a smile and they get to know their …

A real good traditional English chippy kept going by the wonderful staff who do not charge an arm and a leg for decent food. Thanks.
